Waxes - Carve, Mould & Sprue
Our range of jewellery waxes covers all stages of the casting process, whether you're carving, spruing, or moulding. These waxes are designed to hold detail for clean burnout and accurate results when casting with 925 silver, gold metal, or copper . Commonly used with mandrels, soldering kits, and casting wax accessories, they’re essential for jewellers working with intricate jewellery pieces.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Can I use carving wax with silver metal clay or is it only for lost wax casting?
Carving wax is specifically made for lost wax casting and isn't compatible with silver clay. For silver clay, moulding or shaping tools—not wax—are best.
2. What’s the difference between green, blue, and purple waxes?
These colours indicate hardness and flexibility. Green is the hardest for sharp detail, blue is medium and good for general use, and purple is soft and better for flexible or curved designs.
3. Do I need special tools to work with casting wax?
Yes, a basic setup includes a wax pen, scalpel, mandrel, and files or emery paper. A wax welder or sprue former can also be helpful for more advanced work.
