Basic Stone Setting Course
February 8-12, 2027
Instructor: Paul Greenfield
This course provides an introduction to core stone setting skills with GRS equipment. Students will work with a range of practice plates and practice rings to develop control, consistency, and tool handling techniques, as well as an overview of gemstones, including shapes and anatomy. This class also includes instruction and hands-on practice in prong, flush, bead, and channel setting techniques using round and princess cut stones.
Participants will learn how to set up and use the tools, prepare gravers, lay out stones, and apply techniques consistently and effectively. This course is intended for first-time stone setters or those preparing for more advanced training. Course content may vary slightly depending on the instructor.

Jewellery Combination Course
February 15-19, 2027
Instructor: Paul Greenfield
This course provides an introduction to both the core skills used in basic stone setting and metal engraving with GRS equipment. This fast-paced course will cover engraving concepts at the beginning of the week and stone setting techniques in the last half of the week. Students will work with a range of practice plates, practice rings, and designs to develop control, consistency, and tool handling techniques. This class also includes instruction and hands-on practice in basic wire inlay, instruction on transferring designs onto metal, prong, flush, bead, and channel setting, shading, and background techniques.
Participants will learn how to set up and use the tools, prepare gravers, execute foundational cuts, create widely used settings, and apply techniques consistently and effectively. This course is intended for beginners, those planning to continue into advanced engraving classes, and goldsmiths or other jewellery professionals seeking to broaden their engraving abilities.
