Kirra-lea Caynes & Rachel Turner

Recently Rachel Turner won an AJS competition where the prize was a one-day workshop with 2019 JAA Jeweller of the Year, Kirra-lea Caynes.

Even more recently, Kirra-lea travelled to Melbourne to deliver the prize. Below is the lovely summaton of the day we received from Rachel.

"I first met Kirra-lea at the AJS Melbourne showroom, when she was doing a sand casting demo a few years ago. When lockdown hit I decided to give it a go. I was quickly hooked and started following her online tutorials to learn more."

"A course with Kirra-lea has been on my bucket list for a long time, as I really wanted to learn more from this incredibly talented and lovely lady."

"The course was everything I could have hoped for and I have come away with so many new techniques to try, along with lots of experience on how to troubleshoot when things don’t go to plan."

"The two things that went wrong for me have given me the best learning. I was happy to fix them up later as we were running out of time, but there was no way Kirra-lea was going to let this happen. So I walked away with my beautiful mixed metal bangle and sapphire ring - finished!"

"Kirra-Lea is generous with her knowledge and a beautiful and warm person to be around. I will be back to do another course, next time at her studio in Hobart."

AJS is proud to have played a role in bringing these two ladies together.
