Description

ZFM Electrolytic Cleaner is a highly alkaline, specialized electrolytic degreasing solution used in electroplating, electroforming, and jewellery making.

It is specifically formulated for the cathodic cleaning of precious and non-precious metal alloys, removing microscopic oils, polishing pastes, and organic debris to ensure metal surfaces are perfectly pristine for plating.

To ensure a flawless electroplate or coating, a highly specific setup must be maintained.

Process and Setup Guidelines

Mixing: 70g/litre of water (best to use distilled or demineralised water)

Pre-cleaning : Workpieces should first be run through an ultrasonic cleaner and/or steamer, then rinsed, before being placed into the ZFM bath.

Connection: The metal object is attached to the negative terminal (the cathode).

Anode : Stainless steel is the most common anode.

Voltage & Current: Operates on direct current (DC) between 6 to 8 volts with a current density of about 5– 15 \(\textA/dm^2\).

Temperature : The bath functions optimally between 15°C and 35°C.

Time: Exposure lasts for a short duration, typically between 30 to 60 seconds.

Rinsing : Following the ZFM bath, parts must be thoroughly rinsed in clean tap water and then in distilled or demineralized water.

Contents: Sodium Hydroxide
